Summary
Nicola Maiden and Gerard Cole have been murdered while camping in the bucolic countryside of northern English. Complicating matters for the local constabulary is Nicola's father, Andy Maiden, a recently retired detective. Calling in Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley is the obvious solution. Setting out without his recently demoted partner Barbara Havers, Lynley soon finds himself overloaded with suspects. But Andy is convinced his daughter's death is a case of revenge. The former detective put away many criminals during his days on the force, which lends credence to his hunch -- and gives Lynley the perfect excuse for summoning Havers to help sort out the mystery
